last Thursday, we presented our Expo project. Our topic was water Transport in plants. Gaah! its soooooo scary! our judge was Sir LEO!(he asked us lots of questions) coach ruffy and teacher Mayette!hehe We are very nervous that's why we can't answer some of question even though we know the answers.(damn!)My groupmates and I cried!wahh! because we thought we fail but we did'nt because the NExt day... The best of the best will present...! and we were one of them! I'm very very nervous that time because there were lots of people..hehe i'm shy:) After that, i talk to my ate and Said.. Dengue

Dengue [DEN-ghee] is a flu-like viral disease spread by the bite of infected mosquitoes. Dengue hemorrhagic fever is a severe, often fatal, complication of dengue.
Dengue occurs in most tropical areas of the world. Most U.S. cases occur in travelers returning from abroad, but the dengue risk is increasing for persons living along the Texas-Mexico border and in other parts of the southern United States.
There is no specific treatment for dengue.
Prevention centers on avoiding mosquito bites in areas where dengue occurs or might occur and eliminating breeding sites.

What is dengue fever? What is dengue hemorrhagic fever?
Dengue fever is a flu-like illness spread by the bite of an infected mosquito.
Dengue hemorrhagic fever is a severe, often fatal, complication of dengue fever.

What is the infectious agent that causes dengue?
Dengue and dengue hemorrhagic fever are caused by any of the dengue family of viruses. Infection with one virus does not protect a person against infection with another.

How is dengue spread?
Dengue is spread by the bite of an Aedes mosquito. The mosquito transmits the disease by biting an infected person and then biting someone else.

Where is dengue found?
Dengue viruses occur in most tropical areas of the world. Dengue is common in Africa, Asia, the Pacific, Australia, and the Americas. It is widespread in the Caribbean basin. Dengue is most common in cities but can be found in rural areas. It is rarely found in mountainous areas above 4,000 feet.
The mosquitoes that transmit dengue live among humans and breed in discarded tires, flower pots, old oil drums, and water storage containers close to human dwellings. Unlike the mosquitoes that cause malaria, dengue mosquitoes bite during the day.

What are the signs and symptoms of dengue fever and dengue hemorrhagic fever?
Dengue fever usually starts suddenly with a high fever, rash, severe headache, pain behind the eyes, and muscle and joint pain. The severity of the joint pain has given dengue the name "breakbone fever." Nausea, vomiting, and loss of appetite are common. A rash usually appears 3 to 4 days after the start of the fever. The illness can last up to 10 days, but complete recovery can take as long as a month. Older children and adults are usually sicker than young children.
Most dengue infections result in relatively mild illness, but some can progress to dengue hemorrhagic fever. With dengue hemorrhagic fever, the blood vessels start to leak and cause bleeding from the nose, mouth, and gums. Bruising can be a sign of bleeding inside the body. Without prompt treatment, the blood vessels can collapse, causing shock (dengue shock syndrome). Dengue hemorrhagic fever is fatal in about 5 percent of cases, mostly among children and young adults.

How soon after exposure do symptoms appear?
The time between the bite of a mosquito carrying dengue virus and the start of symptoms averages 4 to 6 days, with a range of 3 to 14 days. An infected person cannot spread the infection to other persons but can be a source of dengue virus for mosquitoes for about 6 days.

How is dengue diagnosed?
Dengue is diagnosed by a blood test.

Who is at risk for dengue?
Anyone who is bitten by an infected mosquito can get dengue fever. Risk factors for dengue hemorrhagic fever include a person's age and immune status, as well as the type of infecting virus. Persons who were previously infected with one or more types of dengue virus are thought to be at greater risk for developing dengue hemorrhagic fever if infected again.

What is the treatment for dengue and dengue hemorrhagic fever?
There is no specific treatment for dengue. Persons with dengue fever should rest and drink plenty of fluids. They should be kept away from mosquitoes for the protection of others. Dengue hemorrhagic fever is treated by replacing lost fluids. Some patients need transfusions to control bleeding.

How common is dengue?
In tropical countries around the world, dengue is one of the most common viral diseases spread to humans by mosquitoes. Tens of millions of cases of dengue fever and up to hundreds of thousands of cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever occur each year.
In the United States, approximately 100 cases of dengue are reported each year in travelers returning from tropical areas. Many more cases probably go unreported. A few persons have become infected with dengue while living in the United States. Aedes mosquitoes are found in Texas, Florida, and other southern states, and locally acquired dengue has been reported three times since 1980 in southern Texas.

Is dengue an emerging infectious disease?
Yes. All types of dengue virus are re-emerging worldwide and causing larger and more frequent epidemics, especially in cities in the tropics. The emergence of dengue as a major public health problem has been most dramatic in the western hemisphere. Dengue fever has reached epidemic levels in Central America and is threatening the United States.
Several factors are contributing to the resurgence of dengue fever:
No effective mosquito control efforts are underway in most countries with dengue.
Public health systems to detect and control epidemics are deteriorating around the world.
Rapid growth of cities in tropical countries has led to overcrowding, urban decay, and substandard sanitation, allowing more mosquitoes to live closer to more people.
The increase in non-biodegradable plastic packaging and discarded tires is creating new breeding sites for mosquitoes.
Increased jet air travel is helping people infected with dengue viruses to move easily from city to city.
Dengue hemorrhagic fever is also on the rise. Persons who have been infected with one or more forms of dengue virus are at greater risk for the more severe disease. With the increase in all types of virus, the occurrence of dengue hemorrhagic fever becomes more likely.

How can dengue be prevented?
There is no vaccine to prevent dengue. Prevention centers on avoiding mosquito bites when traveling to areas where dengue occurs and when in U.S. areas, especially along the Texas-Mexico border, where dengue might occur. Eliminating mosquito breeding sites in these areas is another key prevention measure.
Avoid mosquito bites when traveling in tropical areas:
Use mosquito repellents on skin and clothing.
When outdoors during times that mosquitoes are biting, wear long-sleeved shirts and long pants tucked into socks.
Avoid heavily populated residential areas.
When indoors, stay in air-conditioned or screened areas. Use bednets if sleeping areas are not screened or air-conditioned.
If you have symptoms of dengue, report your travel history to your doctor.
Eliminate mosquito breeding sites in areas where dengue might occur:
Eliminate mosquito breeding sites around homes. Discard items that can collect rain or run-off water, especially old tires.
Regularly change the water in outdoor bird baths and pet and animal water containers.

Science week is going to be on the last week of september! SoOoOoOoO many things to do! wah! Our Science teachers told us that we will not have MIDTERMS this 2nd Trim.. but it will be replace with this SCIENCE EXPO! and it is DUE ON SEPTEMBER 28( i think). We have to choose a partner, then an adviser( isang guro na tutulong sainyo ng partner mo!).

Wednesday, Sept 6,2006,Is the day for our CHEMISTRY and ENGLISH trime Test! Argh!Our chem teacher(teacher DAWN) is very kind, she allow us to use a index card that may contian difenitions and formulas.hehehe!it is very useful hahaha! The exam was not that hard but i got stuck in test II number 3, the problem is aking for the ppm and ppb of a 'compound'!argh!I for got how to slove it so i leave it blank.:<

Our engilsh test is not hard!hehe, i have a feeling that i'll not pass because it was about a boring passage and vocab words! and i hate that!hehe!The test has 10 pages and it is all multiple choice! i did'nt review because i though the exam is going to be next week tuesday!aargh!ü

Ito'y nag simula dahil sa aking kakalase na si miggy... Kami ay ng "pustahan" tapos, tinaung nya ung mga kakalase ko kung na rining nila ung usapan namin.. Si Sam ay nag "Comment" at ako'y inasar niya..Hinamon niya ako ng suntokan..ako naman ay pumayang.. kami ay ng suntokan sa Library..haha! Nakasuntok siya ng isa saakin at ako y ay na ka 4 na suntok.hehe:) Nagawa ko un kc lagi na lang niya ako i-naasar..kaya kaialangan ko ipakita na dapat d nila ako inaasar ng ganun..hahaha!

When My brother Jap took his UPCAT last August 5 my parents went with him...We don't have a maid so i was alone. I woke up at around 3am i saw them living our house. I got a little scared because it was still dark when they left me:) I went to sleep again because i need to go to school even it was saturday!I slept with the radio on..

I woke up at around 6:30am..I was late!shocks!so I rush to the bathroom and took a bath.. I did'nt eat my breakfast because I don't want to eat alone..hehe!

Yey! It's Friday! Of course, I went to school. We had double period of Math and physics Teacher Andrea, my teacher in math gave us some seat work. I'm the last one who pass the paper because I got confuse in the "tally" part and I didn't eat my snacks..:(( In our physics lab, my teacher, Sir Jollibee este Sir Ramil, told us to make a tower using toothpicks!hehehe..He divided the class into 4 groups but we have only 2 glue guns, the automatic(the small one) and the manual(the large one) so we have to share. Sir gave the "manual one" to my group and to Zach's group. The glue stick was very very very small:)hehehe:) Our goup decided to use a alchohol lamp instead because we might destroy Aj's gun(the owner of the glue gun). We did'nt finish the tower because it was already time so my sir decided to continue the tower making on MONDAY!hehehe yey!:D

It's so hard to be a teenager, you have lots of RESPONSIBILITIES! my mom told me.. that I'm already a teenager so I MUST wash the Dishes and laundry my own clothes. But being a teenager is also FUN!!!.. My parents were not strict enough..they allows me to go to may calssmate's house but i have a curfew..7:30pm:)hehehe:) Being a teenager is not bad at all..it is part of our life!hehehe:)

My friend samantha texted me while im eating my dinner. She told me that someone texted her but she didn't know who was he or she so as a Friend, i help her. I asked her the cell number of the person who texted her and i miss called that person. The person texted me .She asked my name..(of course i did not tell her). then, i texted her..and asked for her name.She said Shane..Samantha told me to asked for her school.so i asked shane...She said SFC..we both don't know her so.. we stoped texting her..hehehe! my friend samantha and i laugh..beacuse maybe that girl is insane or she can't do anything good for her life..Yuck! I'm too bad!:D If i was her.. i'll just spend my time posting..:))hehehe:) blog addikk!:)

we have our Physics egg drop last Friday..:) yeah! it was our MIDTERMS!hahaha:)) it was funny!because sir Ramil thought that Martin's Contraption will not last...but he thought wrong..hehehe:) HE got high grade..hehehe:))My friend Samantha.. did not survive the first fall..but she got 8o%.. because of our votes!hehehe:)well my contraption was just a passing grade 60%..hehehe yup! because... i place the egg in a wrong way...huhuhu:(( but it's ok because when Sir rams total all the results...we got it this morning... i got 77% not bad huh? hahaha:)) My day started with a good news( it was our first subject) hehehe!

Yey! i passed my 1st bIO test!whootooot!:))hehehe well, yep it's HARD!but i got 52 over 70.It was suppose to be over 80 but sir H said that it will be over 70:) YEy! We have two maths this year, the algebra and the statistics:). We had our longtest in algebra last MOnday and was hard because Teacher Andrea was not in school that time so, sir Ramil was the one who gave it.It was about word problems and the rule of exponents!hahaha! But thank God! I passed my Algebra Test! hahaha! it was over 50 i got 32..hehehe.. yeah i know it is a bad grade but at least i passeD!hahaha:) We took the statistic test last Tuesday. Yup! our teacher was already there!:D it was not that easy because i forgot the meaning of Qualitative and Qantitative Variables...but i passed! yey! The test was over 55(i think) and i got 43.hahaha! Im happy... hahahaha: )

Yesterday, we didn't have classes! I was so, so happy! hahaha! i just slept the whole day and woke up to do my home work that is due today! but i did not submit it to day because there is no CLASSES!hahaha!

Uhm... Yesterday, i was walking with my friend ate Steph. We pass by the bAhay kubo(their classroom) she told me to stop by and watch the UNO stako game of Ana, ate JOy and tcher Dawn. Then when it tcher Dawn's turn, i saw her cute bracelet:)..hehehe:) So.. i asked her teacher can i have that:) "have what?"she said. The bracelet:) hahaha:) "Sure". What do you want the brown or the pink? Of course i choose the pink one but, the pink is still in QC. I have to wait until wednesday :) hehehe... Suddenly i got shy... i told her.. tch, "Wag na lang".hahaha.. but why se said... HEHEHE… every night I’m thing about what my teacher told me… so I took out all my class cards from garde5 to 1st
1st year. I saw that chemistry is one of my highest subjects, so I’m thinking to take chemical engineering o just plane chemistry. But I have still 1 and a half-year to decide…:))

When I was 5 yrs old, I want to be a veterinarian. Yup! A Vet med.. Because I love dogs. HEHE! Then when I was 11yrs old, my mom and I were watching a TV program titled “All about Eve” that program is about to two girls that are reporters. The program inspired me I want to be a reporter. I asked one of my teachers what course would I take to be able to be a reporter. He said Mass communication. When I was in year one, my teachers in chemistry inspired me. Teacher Nica(she was my teacher in chemistry when I was in grade 6)and Teacher Dawn(she was also my teacher in chem. last year and this year 06-07) I asked them what course did they took, they said bio.. Wah! BIO?? That’s the 2nd hardest subject for me…But as of now I want to be a chemist.=))

Yey! It's our first day of school, at first i was shy because my friends were not there yet. Teacher Emma(our school director) made some announcements and she intoduce the new teachers, the old teachers and the new students. Teacher Andrea is one pgf the old teachers, she is also our adviser. She led our class to our new classroom. Our classroom was color white. hehehe:))
